Originally, this blog was started as a space to get my ponderings out of my head. I processes things best when I can write about them -- or talk them out. It has been two years since I last posted anything on here so there is going to be a huge jump when it comes to the posts, but oh well. Life has happened and it has been glorious.
I am a stay at home Mama to two delightful, energetic children. A preschooler and a toddler. A girl and a boy. Most people assume we are 'done,' but we're not. We like kids. We are weird like that.
Speaking of "we," my husband of seven years is my most favorite person to be around. He has the amazing ability to make me laugh in every situation. He's also really hot, so I'm pretty much the luckiest girl in the world. Jesus blows me away with the gift He's given me in this man. I'm so glad I get to spend the rest of eternity with him.
And, since I mentioned it, I am a lover of Jesus. He captured me with an understanding of His love and grace over eight years ago. I was raised in the Church and have a background with the Evangelical movement. I spent two years of my life in the middle of the Shenandoah Mountains studying the Bible and serving at a retreat center for youth. But, it wasn't until I finished my studying that my eyes were opened to the glorious freedom of His grace. I love living life with Him.
As far as my interests and the various places we may go with this blog, the road is pretty much open. I love to learn and I love that life is full of so many opportunities to do so.
We homeschool our children and we lean towards the Unschooling side of things for the most part. I am a believer in allowing the child to lead when it comes to learning. I see myself as a protector of childhood for my children and I enjoy taking things slowly and allowing them to explore this big world of ours at their own pace. I want them to stay little for as long as they possibly can.
I am a big advocate for gentle parenting, natural parenting, attachment parenting -- whatever you want to call it. I see wisdom in this approach to raising children. I enjoy taking the time to get to know my children as the complete people they are at this very moment. They were purposefully created with the personalities and preferences they have and I love learning about who they are. I love to read about childhood development, parenting and psychology.
Another passion of mine is food. I love to eat it, cook it, and learn about it. We have had a wonderful experience over the last two years as we have changed our eating habits and I love the health benefits we have enjoyed. We eat a primarily Paleo diet, sticking pretty strictly to a gluten-free, sugar-free way of life. When we were having trouble conceiving our son we opted to try a natural approach to increase our fertility instead of taking the medicinal route. Three months after cleaning up our eating habits we conceived -- after 18 months of trying!! After my son was born we transitioned into the Paleo style and we have never felt better. I am pro whole food and eating nutrient dense foods. We were designed for the goodness of fresh food, not boxed meals.
So, again I say welcome. Welcome to the random things I think, the activities we enjoy and the life we live.
